Rick Byrd graduated from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in 1984, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. After gaining experience through two well respected Structural Engineering firms, Rick founded R.M. Byrd and Associates in 1992. The firm was founded on sound, fundamental principles, designed to provide quality, and competitive engineering services. Rick, with licenses in 13 states, has been involved with projects throughout the United States. His emphasis has been on educational, institutional, civic, entertainment and commercial Structural Engineering.

Frank Rice began his employment at R.M. Byrd and Associates in 2001 shortly after graduating from California State University, Fullerton, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering. Over this time, he has expanded his engineering knowledge through his involvement in projects of varying sizes, covering many construction materials and methods. Frank has provided quality structural engineering services on numerous educational facilities in addition to fire stations, churches, and theaters.
